Staining Benefits You Must Know

Staining the deck is essential to protect it from outdoor elements. Doing so not only maintains but also enhances the original natural beauty. If the deck is made from a beautiful wood, its distinguishing characteristics and appealing grain can be highlighted. You can opt for a clear sealer or a semi-transparent stain, it depends on your choice.

A look into some types of stains:
  • Solid: These create a darker and uniform look by covering most the wood’s natural elements.
  • Semitransparent: They offer a touch of color; however, allow distinguishing characteristics of wood and patterns to let them outshine. They provide UV protection and weatherproofing.
  • Clear wood preserves: Best suited for beautiful wood decks like redwood and rich cedar, where the focus is on preserving the natural color and bringing out the beauty. These have less wax as compared to clear water repellent or sealer.
The Benefits
  1. When staining, you are free to choose how much or how little the natural wood will show. From clear to solid stain colors, you are free to choose the opacity level.
  2. The better the quality, the better it will seal the wood grain. In other words, it prevents moisture from penetrating inside the deck and preventing it from rotting. Good stains offer better moisture retention.
  3. Highlighting the real beauty of the deck is easy with staining. If the deck is made of gorgeous wood, it will be enhanced through right stain and finish. If the deck is made of redwood, cedar or cypress and is in good shape, you can stain it to showcase its color.
  4. Last but not the least, stains are less slippery. Some are slick but are flatter and result in a less slippery surface. Stains are a reliable option if slippage and safety are the concerns.
With this, it’s a wrap. Buy the best and proven wood finishing products and stains to preserve the overall look for years to come.
